Background

Dr Peter Rowan attended the University of Queensland medical school and completed his specialty training in orthopaedic surgery in 1997. He travelled to the United States for further training in upper extremity surgery, including microsurgery at Duke University Medical Centre. This was followed by further training in children’s upper limb surgery at the Texas Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in Dallas. He gained further experience in children’s orthopaedics and deformity correction in both Australia and Italy.

Dr Rowan commenced practice at Brisbane Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Centre in 1999. He is a visiting specialist at both Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital. He is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Australian Orthopaedic Association. He is an active member of the Australian Hand Surgery Society, the Shoulder and Elbow Society of Australia and the Australian Medical Association. He has recently been appointed to the court of examiners of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
